Royal expert Omid Scobie has come under fire for "increasingly strident" claims about Prince William's relationship with Prince Harry. Programme producers for ITV's new documentary 'Harry and William: What Went Wrong?' had to make last minute changes after Scobie's claim about William leaking negative stories about his brother's mental health were refuted by the Duke of Cambridge.

       Richard Eden criticised Omid Scobie, saying "No programme makers like making changes, particularly at the last minute."

       "This was forced upon them because Harry and Meghan's real stormtrooper Omid Scobie, he is the cheerleader who seems to be coming up with increasingly stringent and provocative comments."

       "He made a claim which he didn't have any evidence to back up."

       Omid Scobie had told ITV that Prince William had allowed Kensington Palace staff to brief newspapers with negative slurs about Prince Harry's mental health.

       "William complained about this when he got wind that this allegation was made in this programme, made the point that Omid Scovie had no evidence to back this up."

       Richard Eden continued, "ITV could do nothing else but withdraw it and that was a big change because journalists had already been given a preview copy of the programme and that was what they had seen."

       The ITV documentary explores the deterioration of Prince Harry and Prince William's relationship.

       The brothers have had a strained relationship since the autumn of 2018 when they split their royal households.

       According to royal sources, the split came after the brothers argued about Meghan Markle's treatment of Kensington Palace staff.

       The Duchess of Sussex had been accused of bullying Palace employees, reducing one PA to tears.

       A current inquiry is ongoing at the Palace, with Meghan Markle denying the claims and saying they are part of a 'calculated smear campaign' to discredit her character.

       The relationship between Prince William and Prince Harry worsened after the Sussex couple decided to step away from the Royal Family.

       Since then, the couple have relocated to California and have conducted a number of high profile interviews to discuss their time as working royals.

       Prince Harry told Oprah Winfrey that he and William were on "different paths" and characterised their relationship as "space".

       The couple criticised the Royal Family for their lack of support over Meghan's struggle with mental health and claimed that Buckingham Palace were unsupportive in handling media intrusion.

       They said that the Palace refused to correct damaging tabloid articles that were regularly circulated about the Duchess, leaving Meghan to feel unsupported and vilified by the press.
