KUALA LUMPUR: The FBM KLCI ended broadly lower on Monday, weighed by profit-taking in selected heavyweights led by IHH Healthcare Bhd, Press Metal Aluminium Holdings Bhd and Maxis Bhd.
At 5pm, the benchmark index closed down 5.35 points, or 0.33% to 1,597.95.
The overall market breadth was negative with decliners beating advancers 393 to 582, while 409 counters were unchanged, 409 untraded
In today’s session, 20 of the KLCI-component stocks closed lower while eight counters chalked up gains.
IHH Healthcare fell 12 sen to RM6.40, dragging the index lower by 1.5851 points. Press Metal shed 16 sen to RM6.09, pushing the index 1.9390 points lower while Maxis declined 10 sen to RM4.02, nudging the index lower by 1.1744 points.
Petronas Chemical rose 18 sen to RM9.78, Maybank gained six sen to RM8.96 and MISC added five sen to RM7.32.
On the broader market, BLD Plantation jumped 31 sen to RM9.41, Complete Logistics added 18 sen to RM3.45, HeiTech Padu rose 17 sen to RM1.19.
Malaysian Pacific Industries tumbled RM1.42 to RM37.48, PMB Technology fell 52 sen to RM17.26 while Carlsberg lost 44 sen to RM21.64.
Meanwhile, the ringgit was quoted at 4.2168, down 0.17% against the US dollar.
US light crude oil fell US$4.80 to US$109.10 and Brent lost US$4.81 to US$115.84 per barrel.
