       New rules about to hit the UK high streets with masks to be made mandatory in shops and those who flout the law facing ￡200 on the spot fines.

       But today's announcement does not go far enough according to Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon who is calling on Boris Johnson to bring in strict new travel restrictions.

       This comes after Scotland was hit by six cases of the Omicron variant. However, Ms Sturgeon was not able to say whether any of those infected were suffering severe symptoms.

       So with the latest uncertainty over Covid what should the UK do? Act now or wait to see exactly what Omicron is?
