BUKIT FRASER: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's silence on the purported addendum order for former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's house arrest reflects poorly on the government, says Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

       The Perikatan Nasional chairman said the Prime Minister should also not feign ignorance over the matter.

       “When asked about the addendum (involving) Najib, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that he does not know.

       "How can he not know when he is the Prime Minister?

       "His deputy (Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi) has confirmed it but the PM does not know. Then the deputy should be the prime minister - not that we support him (Ahmad Zahid) for prime minister,” Muhyiddin said at the Bersatu Hari Raya Open House here on Sunday (April 21).

       Ahmad Zahid, in his affidavit on April 17 in support of Najib's application for leave to commence a judicial review, had claimed that house arrest was granted to Najib along with his Royal pardon.

       The Umno president claimed that Investment, Trade and Industry Minister and former Selangor Umno treasurer Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz had shown him a copy of the order on his phone on Jan 30.

       At a media conference later at the same event, Muhyiddin further said that cracks were showing in the Madani government with differing statements on the issue coming from various ministers.

       “It is worrying when ministers including Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution and Law Minister Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said made statements on the addendum but when you ask the PM, he claims he is not in the know.

       “What does he mean that he does not know - is he trying to wash his hands off it? We the Opposition take this seriously as the people too want to know what is happening.

       “This is an issue which the government must take responsibility for,” said Muhyiddin.
