The vultures are circling above Ed Miliband's political career. As widely reported, the Energy and Net Zero Secretary faces the sack in Sir Keir Starmer’s planned reshuffle, a desperate attempt by the Prime Minister to distance himself from the disastrous "Net Zero" agenda that threatens to sink the entire Labour Party.
For those of us who have watched with growing alarm as Miliband's zealous pursuit of green fantasies has jeopardised the British economy, this may seem like a victory, but beware – it's likely a calculated deception.

According to reports, Starmer, finally realising the electoral poison that Net Zero represents, is preparing to sacrifice his overzealous green zealot at the altar of political survival. The Prime Minister reportedly wants to end the appearance of focusing solely on Net Zero and instead pretend to commit his government to growing the economy. With the next election poised to be a referendum on the economically ruinous Net Zero agenda, Starmer's move smacks of pure political opportunism.
Miliband's tenure as Energy Secretary has been a masterclass in ideological extremism masquerading as policy.
The Labour government has banned issuing new oil and gas licenses in the North Sea and is pushing for domestic boilers to be replaced by expensive heat pumps. Critics rightly point out that Miliband’s determination to slash the UK’s carbon emissions is directly responsible for soaring energy bills, pushing families into fuel poverty.

These policies aren't just misguided; they're actively harmful. Labour has now backed expansion of both Heathrow and Gatwick airports, seen as a humiliating defeat for Miliband, who also reportedly objected to the decision to cut aid spending and boost the defence budget by ￡6bn in real terms.

The truth is that Miliband's policies have consistently prioritised virtue signaling to the global elite over the well-being of the British people.
As a source told the Express: “The Net Zero agenda has been subsumed by the need to boost the floundering economy and the new world order in Washington." I would consider Trump's election has been a tipping of the scales towards common sense.
However, let's be under no illusions. Miliband's expected departure is a cynical ploy, designed to hoodwink the public.
The globalist Net Zero agenda remains deeply embedded within the Labour Party, like a malignant cancer. They are beholden to international organisations and wealthy elites who stand to profit enormously from the so-called "green transition."
Sacrificing Ed Miliband is mere window dressing, designed to quell growing public discontent. Starmer may attempt to moderate the rhetoric and delay some of the more egregious policies, but he remains fundamentally committed to the Net Zero delusion.
Now, however, Labour have let the Reform UK tiger out of the bag. Their own failings and blatant disregard for the economic realities facing ordinary Britons have created a vacuum that Reform UK, under the leadership of figures like Nigel Farage, is eager to fill.
And here's the critical point: Labour have proven, on virtually every manifesto point, that they are willing to lie to get into power. They will also lie to cling on to power. From broken promises on taxation to U-turns on key social issues, their word is worthless. They simply cannot be trusted. Reform led by Nigel Farage, on the other hand, has a track record of delivering on its promises. They say what they mean, and they mean what they say.

The challenge for those of us who champion a rational and affordable energy policy is to expose Labour's green agenda for what it is: a blueprint for economic ruin and social disintegration. We must highlight the devastating impact that Net Zero policies are already having on British families and businesses, from exorbitant energy bills to the loss of jobs in vital industries.
We must show that there is a better way forward, a path that prioritises energy security, economic prosperity, and genuine technological innovation. This means harnessing our domestic energy resources, including oil, gas, and nuclear power, not engaging in virtue-signaling exercises.
The Heartland Institute UK and Europe calls for a proper review of the basis for Net Zero, and a cost-benefit analysis for the UK.
It also means rejecting the control of international agreements and globalist institutions that seek to dictate our energy future. The British people must have the right to decide their own energy destiny, free from the influence of unelected bureaucrats and self-serving elites.
