PETALING JAYA: Selangor MB Datuk Seri Amirudin Shaari (pic) says that allegations that he is receiving bribes from illegal gambling syndicates in Selangor are false.
"In relation to the allegation linking me to receiving monthly payments from illegal gambling syndicates, I deny this claim that has no basis altogether," he said in a tweet on Monday night (Oct 18).
His denial comes in the wake of allegations by @edisi_siasatmy on Twitter, claiming that the Sungai Tua assemblyman had been receiving RM150,000 in monthly payments from illegal gambling syndicates.
The money was alleged to have been used to fund political activities.
Apart from Amirudin, several others were also named in several tweets to be linked to the illegal gambling syndicates.
The anonymous administrator of the Twitter account also claimed that enforcement officers from several agencies were also on the take from the syndicates.
Meanwhile, several social media users commended Amiruddin for his denial, urging him to lodge a police report and seek legal action.
Berhubung dakwaan mengaitkan saya menerima bayaran bulanan dari sindiket judi haram, saya menafikan dakwaan ini yang tidak mempunyai asas sama sekali. Saya menafikan sekeras-kerasnya dakwaan tersebut.
