Prince Charles released a playlist of his top thirteen favourite songs as part of a special show on hospital radio to thank NHS frontline workers. Amongst the list, there were songs by Diana Ross, Barbara Streisand and Edith Piaf, with the song 'Givin' Up Givin' In' by The Three Degrees noted as a particular favourite.

The Prince of Wales said the 1978 pop hit gave him an "irresistible urge to get up and dance".

Royal expert Chris Ship said, "On Sunday on hospital radio, they aired Prince Charles' thirteen of his favourite songs."

"Kind of like Desert Island Discs with Prince Charles."

"One of which, the song that makes him get up and dance is Givin' Up Givin' In by The Three Degrees."

"Also in his list of things he likes to dance to or favourite music if he was stranded on a desert island, was Diana Ross and Edith Piaf."

"I think they're quite good selections."

Prince Charles participated in the hour-long programme as part of a national Thank You Day to celebrate people who had helped respond to the pandemic.

Other songs include Welsh classic 'Tydi a Roddaist' by Bryn Terfel and Peter Skellern's 'You're a Lady'.

He said he listed the 1935 track Lulu's Back In Town by Dick Powell as it reminded him of his grandmother.

He also recalled watching Barbara Streisand perform in the Warner Bros Studios in California whilst he was posted as a young lieutant on HMS Jupiter the 1970s.

The hospital radio show was called 'Music and Memories with HRH The Prince of Wales' and was broadcasted at midday on Sunday, July 4.

During the show, Prince Charles thanked NHS healthcare workers for their "sheer resilience and indomitable spirit".
