PETALING JAYA: A football player who represents Selangor has collapsed and died here while dining with teammates after a match.

       Selangor FC posted a condolence message for the victim, Muhammad Husni Idrus, 20, on Facebook early Thursday (May 26).

       They did not state the cause of death but asked for the family of the deceased to be afforded their privacy.

       Deputy Petaling Jaya OCPD Supt Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood, in a statement on Thursday, said that the incident occurred on Wednesday (May 25) night at Sunway X Park here.

       "The victim is a football player who took part in the President's Cup, representing Selangor.

       "After the match with Johor, he and a few teammates went for a meal but he started having breathing difficulties and lost consciousness," he said, adding that the victim suffered from asthma.

       "A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death," he said.

       The case has been classified as sudden death.
