KUALA LUMPUR: A video clip showing a man attacking another individual with a sword is an old video, say police.

       Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Muhammad Idzam Jaafar said the actual incident occurred in 2018.

       The video, which went viral on social media, had captions insinuating that the attack was racially motivated.

       ACP Muhammad Idzam said the video was shot on Jalan Alam Damai and had been investigated.

       “The man in question was arrested and charged. The case was investigated under the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958.

       “The act of uploading old videos by irresponsible parties has brought various reactions online. The public is advised to not share old videos and photos that could lead to unrest amongst the public,” he said in a statement on Thursday (May 26).

       In a statement after the incident in 2018, Kuala Lumpur police said then that the attack was due to a disagreement.
