       THE Penang High Court has quashed an attempt to block the handover of the Bukit Tengah Mangala Nayagi Amman Temple to the Penang Hindu Endowment Board (PHEB), Malaysia Nanban reported.

       The board had been given permission by the court to take over running the temple in May this year.

       The temple committee’s former chairman Sekar Kandasamy had appealed the decision, but this was rejected by the court.

       The 136-year-old temple in Central Seberang Prai became mired in controversy after it was revealed that its accounts from 2011 to 2018 had not been submitted to the ROS.

       Following complaints from the public, the ROS gave the old committee a chance to regularise the accounts but they failed to comply, Ramachandran said.

       The PHEB took its case to the court and was given approval to take over the temple.
