TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Fourth-tier Japan Football League side Suzuka Point Getters are bidding to sign 54-year-old former Japan forward Kazuyoshi Miura from Yokohama FC, who will play in the second division next season following relegation from the J-League top flight, a source said Wednesday.

The J1's oldest-ever player, the man known to fans as "King Kazu," made just one league and three cup appearances for Yokohama FC this year, and is reportedly considering a move to gain more playing time.

His older brother Yasutoshi is the general manager of Suzuka, who have aspirations of earning promotion to the J-League system.

Comprising amateur sides and clubs seeking to enter the J-League, the JFL is ranked below the third-division J3 in the Japanese soccer hierarchy.
