PETALING JAYA: Healthcare workers who were infected with Covid-19 after being fully vaccinated developed less severe symptoms, says Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The Health director-general revealed that out of 3,106 fully vaccinated healthcare workers who were infected with Covid-19 between Feb 24 to July 14, only three cases each were in Category 3 (pneumonia cases) and Category 4 (requiring oxygen).
"Not long ago many were unhappy with my tweet when I mentioned the number of healthcare workers (HCW) infected after full vaccination.
"Yes you can still be infected after full vaccination but less in severity, less in hospital admission and death," he said in a Facebook post on Thursday (July 15).
Dr Noor Hisham said that none of those infected were in Category 5, which requires ICU admission.
The majority of those infected were either asymptomatic (32.6%) or only had mild symptoms (67.2%).
"Trust the vaccine trust the data. Vaccine saves lives and once fully vaccinated we can live side by side with Covid-19," he said.
