Boris Johnson heaps praise on Rishi Sunak today (Image: Flickr Downing Street)
Boris Johnson has promised voters that it is “not to late” to avoid “the cliff edge” of a Labour super majority between now and next Thursday.
In his latest rousing column, the former Prime Minister says Britain can still “collectively come to our senses” and “dodge the bottle” of Keir Starmer, Angela Rayner and a decade of socialism.

Writing for the Daily Mail this afternoon, Mr Johnson warns that if the polls are correct, Britain is set to usher in a “left-wing socialist supremacy that lasts for a decade or more”, with Sir Keir being handed an “absolutely colossal parliamentary majority”.
In a show of unity with Rishi Sunak, Mr Johnson heaps praise on his successor in No. 10, writing that the PM “utterly skewered his opponent” on illegal migration in this week’s BBC debate, and on other topics.
He fumes at the historically unpopular leader of the opposition: “The more you dig into Starmerism, the more Left-wing and dangerous it turns out to be.

“Do the British people want to be hit with yet higher taxes now after they have already paid so much? Do they really need to?
“No, they certainly do not – and yet that is what Starmerism means. The Labour Party is now so confident of victory that they no longer even bother to conceal their agenda to clobber your property and your pension and much besides.
“Take it all together – the grim reality of Starmer's agenda – and the mystery is easily solved. That is why Starmer is so oddly unloved, for a man on the verge of triumph. It is not just that Starmer lacks Blair's charisma; he lacks the broad appeal of Blair's policies.”
Contrasting Sir Keir with Tony Blair, Mr Johnson points out that while the 1997 victor and his then-Home Secretary “believed in banging up criminals”, Sir Keir believes in “letting them out early”.
“He wind-bags away about his time at the CPS, but ask any policeman about his tenure. It was known as the Criminal Protection Service.”

In another major swipe at Nigel Farage, Mr Johnson argues that Labour is only ‘allegedly’ about to win a huge landslide “because so many Tory voters are fed up and preparing to stay at home or vote for other parties like Reform - even if they turn out to be Putin’s pet parrots”.
Tory HQ will be delighted with the praise Mr Johnson heaps on Mr Sunak, whom he adds “showed what he can do” in this week’s one-on-one debate with Sir Keir.

The former PM added: “On any fair reading he won."
In a final rallying cry before election day, Mr Johnson implores former Conservative voters: “It is by no means too late to tilt the steering wheel in the direction of common sense, avert Starmergeddon, and prevent this country from going in completely the wrong direction."
