SJK(T) Nibong Tebal took eight gold medals at a national level green innovation competition organised by Pertubuhan Konservasi Alam Malaysia (Perkam), Makkal Osai reported.
Eight teams of 40 students from the Nibong Tebal school in Penang participated in the I-Think-Waste to Usage competition.
The students made eight innovations and inventions, namely a mini aquaria, organo water fountain, waste compost bin, coconut shell pot, incubator egg, Dr Ospi robo, egg tray magic light and an eco-mini cage, which received gold medals from the judges.
Headmistress Kogilavani Shanmugan congratulated the students who had made the school and community proud.
The win also caught the attention of the Seberang Perai Selatan district education office which congratulated the students and teachers on its social media page.
> A newly-wed couple in Tamil Nadu had a surprise when Chief Minister MK Stalin stopped by the roadside to congratulate them, Makkal Osai reported.
Stalin was visiting flood-hit areas in North Chennai following three days of heavy rain which shut down schools and colleges in 17 districts.
The couple, identified as Gowri Shankar and Mahaletchumi, were waiting by the roadside when their friends noticed the chief minister’s convoy and called out to him.
The convoy pulled up to the group and Stalin got down in full wet weather protective clothing to bless the couple on their wedding.
