BUTTERWORTH: Police are looking for the driver of a four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle who was seen driving dangerously and almost causing an accident at KM138.7 of the North-South Expressway.

       Central Seberang OCPD Asst Comm Shafee Abd Samad said the driver's reckless behaviour was captured in a video that has gone viral and shared on social media.

       "On Saturday (March 19), at about 4.30pm, police detected a video that was uploaded to Facebook by a user with the handle 'Jebat Maoc' and in the video, the 4WD driver was seen aggressively trying to squeeze through traffic, almost causing an accident," he said in a statement Sunday (March 20).

       ACP Shafee said investigations found that the 1 minute and 35 second video clip had been taken on Friday (March 18) at 2.49pm.

       He said the viral video had also garnered 307 likes, and was shared by 1,400 users, while 207 had commented on it.

       He said following the incident, police had opened an investigation paper under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987.

       ACP Shafee said police would continue the investigation to find the driver of the four-wheel drive vehicle and call motorists who witnessed the incident to come forward to help in the investigation.

       "The information can be channelled to traffic investigation officer Insp Mohd Firdaus Abdul Ghani at 014-395 5400 or 04-538 222," he said.
