JOHOR BARU: Former Johor mentri besar advisor Datuk Tee Siew Kiong (pic) says he will leave it to Barisan Nasional and MCA to decide if he will be fielded to contest the Pulai Sebatang seat in the upcoming state election.

Tee, who is also Pontian MCA division chief said that the central leadership was still deciding on the matter and nothing has been confirmed.

"I thanked Pontian MCA division for proposing my name to contest in the Pulai Sebatang seat but we leave the final decision to Barisan and MCA's central leadership.

"Anything that is being said outside are just rumours since no final decision has been made yet.

"We are a disciplined party and we will listen to the decision made by the central leadership," he said.

He said this when met after welcoming the five Chinese deities from the ancient temple in Jalan Trus. The five deities would stay for one night before the Chingay procession on Monday (Feb 21).

Tee was the Pulai Sebatang assemblyman for three terms from 2004 until 2018.

In GE14, he lost the seat to Muhammad Taqiuddin Cheman from Amanah who got a 3,395 majority.

On Friday (Feb 18), Amanah announced that former Johor state assembly speaker Suhaizan Kaiyat would contest at the Pulai Sebatang seat under Pakatan Harapan.
