PETALING JAYA: Several Honda models, namely the City, City Hatchback, HR-V and BR-V have been proactively recalled by Honda Malaysia as a precautionary measure.
In a statement yesterday, it said the recalls involved 1,527 units comprising 1,068 units of City 2021 year model and City Hatchback 2022 year models, 343 units of HR-V 2020 year model and 116 units of the BR-V 2021 year model.
It listed two factors for the recall, which were inspections on the nut torque on the alternating current generator (ACG) terminal of the engine harness and the tightening of the bolt earth grounding that may lead to a loose wire harness.
“This can cause poor contact terminals which may result in engine halt while driving or the inability of the vehicle’s engine to start upon stopping.
“We believe that the product recall is necessary as customer safety is Honda Malaysia’s top priority and we apologise for the inconvenience caused to affected customers,” it said, adding that all current selling and production models were not affected by the recall.
It said that there have also been no reported incidences of crashes or injuries caused by the listed issue.
“All affected customers will be informed via notification letters which include details of the product recall.
“We also urge affected customers to contact Honda authorised dealers to make an appointment upon receiving the notification in order to have their vehicles checked and repaired if required,” it said.
It added that the inspection, repair and replacement of the affected parts were free of charge with all costs related to the recall being borne by Honda Malaysia.
