A TOTAL of 23 families in Dusun Durian Estate in Banting who have been living without electricity for two years received help from the Selangor government, Makkal Osai reported.

The families are mostly former workers at the plantation.

Sentosa assemblyman Gunaraj George said Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari directed state authorities to allocate RM40,000 to carry out necessary work to return power supply to the area.

George, who was accompanied by TNB officials during a visit to the area, said he is working with the power supply company to resolve the issue.

He added the state government has also arranged for a generator to be sent until work is completed.

       > The daily also said families in Kepayang, Negri Sembilan celebrating Deepavali next month have received assistance.

The Bukit Kepayang service centre will provide new clothes to women from the B40 category.

Its assemblyman, Nicole Tan Lee Koon, said her service centre will continue to help B40 families.

Tan, who is State Executive Councillor for Women’s Affairs and Welfare, said the centre has also been providing food and necessities for poor families via the Muhibbah Food Bank at the Bukit Kepayang commercial centre.
