GEORGE TOWN: The recent Sarawak elections have shown that people are tired of politicking, says Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin.

Zahidi said the recent state election results in Melaka and Sarawak has shown how Barisan Nasional has won big.

"Now we know that people are bored of things being politicised. It is not good for the country when things are like this and when there are multiple changes in the line up of ministers," said Zahidi.

"We are in a bad space and it is best to have one party," he added during a press conference held at the Peranakan Batik and Vintage exhibition held at the U.A.B Building in China Street Ghaut on Sunday (Dec 19).

He thanked the people of Sarawak for their support.

Gabungan Parti Sarawak retained power with more than a two-thirds majority.

In an overwhelming victory, the ruling coalition secured 75 out of the 82 seats, bettering their 2016 performance.

Barisan Nasional achieved a landslide victory on Nov 20, securing a two-thirds majority.

The coalition of Umno, MCA and MIC captured 21 out of the 28 seats contested, while Pakatan Harapan won five seats and Perikatan Nasional took two seats at the polls.

Zahidi was responding to a question on how he felt about the recent Sarawak election results.
