KUALA LUMPUR: Teck Guan Perdana Bhd fell over 11% in early trade Thursday after posting a net loss in the first quarter ended April 30.
The plantation group tumbled 11.11%, or 15 sen to RM1.20, making it the top loser on Bursa Malaysia.
In the first quarter ended April 30, Teck Guan posted a net loss of RM1.53mil against a net profit of RM4.29mil in the same corresponding quarter last year.
Teck Guan turned from an operating profit of RM5.57mil to an operating loss of RM930,000 compared with the preceding year corresponding quarter.
The decrease was mainly attributed to the decrease in operating margin and net fair value loss on commodity futures contracts amounted to RM1.72mil.
Its revenue for the quarter fell 14.1% to RM55.5mil from RM64.7mil a year ago, mainly due to the decrease in sales volume.
