MELAKA: The Melaka government will cooperate with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on the alleged mismanagement of coastal reclamation projects, says Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali (pic).

The caretaker chief minister said he will ensure all relevant documents and materials are provided to the anti-graft agency during the probe.

“We are willing to provide any evidence needed by MACC,” he said after handing over a house key to an orphanage at Tangga Batu here on Saturday (Oct 9).

The allegation of marine sand royalty misappropriation and project monopoly in Melaka was made by Sungai Udang assemblyman Datuk Seri Idris Haron during a live broadcast on a news channel on Wednesday (Oct 6).

Idris also revealed that the issue was among the factors behind his withdrawal of support for the Perikatan Nasional/Umno-led state government.

On Monday (Oct 4), Idris and three other state lawmakers declared they had lost confidence in Sulaiman's leadership.

The three others are Pantai Kundor assemblyman Datuk Nor Azman Hassan, Telok Mas assemblyman Noor Effandi Ahmad who has since been terminated from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, and Independent lawmaker Datuk Norhizam Hassan Baktee.

On Friday (Oct 8), Melaka MACC chief Mohd Shahril Che Saad confirmed that anti-graft officers had collected documents from Idris on his allegations over the monopoly of economic projects and sand royalty payment in the state.
