GEORGE TOWN: A new Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report for the Penang South Reclamation (PSR) project will soon be submitted to the Environment Department (DOE), says the Penang Infrastructure Corporation (PIC).
Its chief executive officer Datuk Seri Farizan Darus said the report would be submitted by the end of this month or early next month.
"The preparation of the new EIA report is in its final stage.
"It will include the latest data from hydraulic studies, Social Impact Assessment (SIA) studies, and fisheries studies, among others," he said.
Farizan was speaking to reporters after the launching of the Koperasi Komuniti Pulau Pinang Selatan Berhad (KKPPSB) at Hotel Seri Malaysia Bayan Baru on Thursday (March 10).
He said the Penang state government had earlier filed a judicial review at the High Court to challenge the revocation of its previous EIA approval for the PSR project.
"We are still awaiting the date for the hearing.
"Since the previous EIA approval was revoked, physical land reclamation works will not commence.
"However, we can still work on the project's planning," said Farizan, when responding to a question by the media.
