KOTA KINABALU: Sabah recorded 122 new Covid-19 cases on Monday (Dec 20), it’s lowest in the last seven months, says state Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.

       He said the daily cases dropped significantly for the first time since May, with most of the state's 27 districts reporting single-digit figures.

       He said Ranau had the most cases at 21, followed by Kota Belud (19), Kota Kinabalu (19) and neighbouring Tuaran district (16).

       He said that eight districts recorded zero new cases, while the rest of the districts recorded single-digit figures.

       There were no new clusters recorded on Monday.

       Of the new cases, 118 suffered mild symptoms and were placed under Category 1 and 2; two under category four and five while another other two were still under further assessment by the medical authorities.

       Meanwhile, Masidi said the state government will allow house-to-house visits in conjunction with Christmas and the New Year celebrations, with the requirement for all to be fully vaccinated and each visit should not exceed three hours.

       They are also required to sanitise their places between visits, where house owners are required to set up a MySejahtera app for visitors to scan in.

       Under the SOPs, he said that visitors should use face masks when not eating and practise social distancing, as well maintaining 50% capacity.

       Children under 12 are only allowed for the visits accompanied by fully vaccinated family members.

       Masidi said that no religious or physical contact activities are allowed during the visits.

       The SOP for Christmas celebrations at churches and houses of worship will be from 7am till 11.30pm.

       Prayers were limited to two hours with a 30-minute interval before the next session.
