KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia recorded a slight increase in new Covid-19 cases at 21,315 yesterday compared with 21,072 cases reported on Sunday, says the Health director-general.
Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, via his official Twitter account, said the cumulative number of cases now stood at 3,061,550.
He said 99.59%, or 21,228, of the total new cases were in Categories 1 and 2, while 87 cases, or 0.4%, were in Categories 3, 4 and 5.
Of the 21,315 new cases yesterday, he said 81 were imported and 21,234 were local transmissions, while 199 were being treated in the intensive care unit, with 115 of these requiring respiratory assistance.
Dr Noor Hisham added that a total of 8,517 recovered cases were recorded, making the cumulative number of recoveries now 2,860,954.
A total of 17 new clusters were identified. Currently there are 435 active clusters in the country. — Bernama
