A BUS driver in Madhya Pradesh, India, was sentenced to 190 years in prison for causing an accident which killed 22 people and injured dozens of people, Makkal Osai reported.

A court which found the driver guilty on 19 counts of culpable homicide sentenced him to 10 years for each offence.

The judge also ruled that the sentences are to be served consecutively.

Investigation into the horrifying accident in May 2015 determined that the driver, identified as Shamshuddin, was driving recklessly before losing control of the bus which then plunged into a culvert and burst into flames.

The passengers couldn’t get out of the burning bus because the emergency door had been sealed off with iron rods.

Furthermore, an additional seat had been added at the exit.

Apparently, the 47-year-old Shamshuddin had driven in a reckless manner despite passengers asking him to slow down.

The owner of the bus, Jitendra Pandey, was jailed 10 years for his role in the deaths.
