KUALA LUMPUR: Scared that she would be sent to the police for failing to pay for the RM400 ride, a teenager slit the throat of an e-hailing driver.
The 63-year-old man survived the encounter on April 13.
He had earlier driven the girl from Sagil in Johor to Jalan Ipoh here, a distance of about 200km.
The fare came to about RM400 but the girl allegedly told the driver that she was unable to pay.
Apparently, the driver told her the matter could be resolved by going to the police station.
“Fearing being sent to the police, she took out a switchblade and slit the victim’s throat,” said Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Beh Eng Lai.
“He survived and went to the Sentul police station for help.
“Acting on information gathered, the suspect was arrested in front of the Jinjang Maybank outlet on April 16 at 4.55pm. She has no criminal record,” he said in a statement.
