PETALING JAYA: The person appointed as the next prime minister must prioritise the rakyat’s welfare and is backed by a strong Cabinet, says Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia leaders. Its deputy president and Tambun MP Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said the new prime minister must prioritise the rakyat’s interests at all times.
“Politics must take a backseat as the country faces the pandemic and people are suffering,” he said. He added they were looking to back the right candidate who put the people’s interests as the top priority.
“Health and economy must be on top of his list. The party leadership has made a decision and we have agreed unanimously to support this candidate whom we believe can bring together, not only the parties in Perikatan but also a unifier for everyone to work together,” said Ahmad Faizal.
Bersatu supreme council member Datuk Seri Redzuan Yusof said the next prime minister must also have a strong Cabinet.
“The new prime minister, when appointed by the King, must have a strong Cabinet to back him up. He cannot be seen as weak and he must be wise to appoint a strong deputy,” said Redzuan.
Bersatu, he said, had decided on Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob to be the next prime minister.
