Regarding the Nov. 29 Metro article “Magruder High may see name changed”:
Yes, we must rename the Montgomery County high school honoring enslaver Col. Zadok Magruder. We cannot honor the men who engaged in that terrible practice. Magruder’s accomplishments do not outweigh the practice of slavery.

The same can be said for all schools, towns and even cities named for enslavers George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. Both men, while making notable contributions to the establishment of our country, enslaved people. If we cannot tolerate honoring Magruder, neither should we tolerate honoring those men.
