Reform UK is hoping to reset their image this week after the turbulent resignation of Zia Yusuf last Thursday.

On Sunday Mr Yusuf announced he would be returning to Reform UK, though to run its waste-cutting DOGE programme rather than as party chairman.
Speaking to the media, the top Muslim businessman said he had quit out of frustration from online trolling by the hard right.

Labour responds to David Bull's appointment
David Bull has served on the frontline of the NHS but Sir Keir Starmer's party wants to fix in voters' minds the worry that Reform cannot be trusted with the health service, claiming it has a "commitment to end the NHS as we know it".
Labour warns "an insurance-based healthcare model" would "leave working people paying thousands for routine healthcare treatment".
A spokesperson said:“Reform is not a serious party and their £80 billion in unfunded spending commitments would risk a Liz Truss re-run, sending mortgages and bills rocketing. Nigel Farage is another gamble this country cannot afford.”

The size of that lead
YouGov puts Reform UK on 29% (+1 from last week). Labour is on 23% (+1), the Conservatives are on 17% (-1), the Liberal Democrats are on 15% (-2) and the Greens are on 10% (+1).
This is a desperately uncomfortable place for the Conseratives - in third place behind a deeply unpopular party of government, and 12 points behind Nigel Farage's party of five MPs. The fear will be that if the Conservatives chase voters who have switched to Reform by adopting more Right-wing policies then the Liberal Democrats will pick off centrist Tories.
If the Conservatives fall to fourth place and look on course for disaster in next year's Welsh and Scottish elections even the coolest-headed Tories may break into a nervous sweat.

The public unhappiness which is fuelling Reform's rise
The lastest YouGov polling shows "only 12% of Britons think Rachel Reeves is doing a good job as Chancellor".
Two thirds (65%) say the government should cut money from the international aid budget.
Only 28% of Labour voters are positice about Ms Reeves's time at the Treasury.
With figures like these, Nigel Farage and his Reform colleagues will believe there ambition of forming a government is far from fanciful.

Zia could be coming to a council near you
Former chairman Zia Yusuf will lead the party's plans to cut public spending, heading up the so-called "UK Doge", which is based on the US Department of Government Efficiency which was led by tech billionaire Elon Musk.
This Reform's chance to show it can deliver better value for money than rival parties when it has power. Cutting spending is risky territory - as Rachel Reeves knows full well - but Reform may win over voters who are fed up with council tax increases if they can point to examples of how they have delivered better value for money.

Cool in a crisis and able to speak to the country
There are clear reasons why Nigel Farage has put David Bull in this key role.
First, he is a mass communicator. He has massive broadcasting experience, and not on high-brow shows. This is someone who can front a ghost hunt, a travel show and deal with viewers' questions about their health.
Second, he is smart and knows what it means to be under stress. They don't let anyone into Imperial College, London to study medicine - and he has worked in A&E. This will put daily upheavals of politics into perspective.
Third, he has deep, deep roots in the movement. As a former Brexit Party he stuck with the project when it was far from certain it would rocket in the polls, thrashing out a vision for Reform UK at his kitchen table with Richard Tice. He is in this for the long haul.

Raising cash
Nigel Farage jokes that it's harder to raise money because Reform "doesn't have any gongs to give out". He says they have been predominantly funded by men and women paying "twenty and 50 quids".

Keeping calm
Nigel Farage is asked how to avoid a repeat of last week's turbulence with Zia Yusuf. He jokes: "We've locked him in a room. He can't do it again."

Would Reform fund Sizewell C?
Nigel Farage says coal is needed in small quantities for specialist reasons and that should be mined in the UK.
He says the arguments in favour of Sizewell are "remarkable" - asking how the Government can argue for it at the same time as "intermittent" renewables.
He claims there are several days this year when the country has had to import 20% of its energy. Reform, he says, is pro-nuclear, but says Hinkley and Sizewell are "pretty outdated" models of reactors.

Nigel Farage says: 'Nothing on the death penalty will be a part of party policy'

Nigel Farage is asked about the death penalty
"These are issues of conscience, just as as the assited dying debate will be when it comes on Friday," he says
He says nothing on the death penalty will be party policy.
Mr Farage says he would struggle to support it after hundreds of miscarriages of justice. But he says younger people are more likely to support it and predicts it will be back as a subject of national debate.

Farage deals with the instability question
Nigel Farage points out the Conservatives have had seven chairman since 2022 and four leaders.
He jokes: "Give the sins that were committed last week, look at my levels of forgiveness."
But he says he understands that people need to see a strong team and know who will be a Chancellor in a Farage Government.

A buoyant party
The return of Zia Yusuf to the fold provided drama over the weekend and was an important vote of confidence in the party and its leadership.
Labour and the Conservatives will hope that Reform suffers the public rows and splits which so damaged Ukip, and will pounce on signs of disunity. A key test is whether Reform can hold together a band of mavericks who did not find a home in traditional parties.
Mr Yusuf's return is an important signal that those at the heart of the project believe its best days are ahead and it is worth sticking with it.
