PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Rina Mohd Harun's million-ringgit debt settlement to a Paris-based production company has no elements of corruption, says the Prime Minister.

Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, in a written reply to Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh, said that the graft investigation against the Women, Family and Community Development Minister (pic) has been completed.

The reply was shared by Yeoh on Twitter on Tuesday (Sept 14).

Yeoh had submitted a question asking the Prime Minister for the update on the probe by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on Rina’s debt settlement, especially the source of the money.

Previously, Opposition lawmakers lodged a report to MACC against Rina’s source of income allowing her to fully repay her debt to the production company.

It came after the French production company Sarl Novision, in February, said through lawyer Mark Ho that the Titiwangsa MP had settled the undisclosed amount owed earlier in the previous month.

Prior to that the company had filed the suit against the minister on Nov 8, 2018 demanding that the debt amounting to RM1,340,642 be paid by July 31, 2019.

According to the company, Rina through her now-defunct companies Eurofine (M) Sdn Bhd, Fine Mobile Network Sdn Bhd and Fine TV Network Sdn Bhd had purchased several comedy shows and documentaries worth millions of ringgit from the Paris-based production company between 2011 and 2013.
