PETALING JAYA: Bank Negara’s international reserves stood at US$116.1bil (RM485.86bil) as at Jan 31, 2022, slightly lower than the US$116.2bil (RM486.28bil) recorded as at the middle of the month.
In a statement, the central bank said the reserves position was sufficient to finance 7.5 months of retained imports and was 1.2 times the total short-term external debt.
Bank Negara said the main components of the international reserves were foreign currency reserves (US$103.4bil or RM432.71bil), International Monetary Fund reserves position (US$1.4bil or RM5.85bil), special drawing rights (US$6bil or RM25.1bil), gold (US$2.3bil or RM9.62bil), and other reserve assets (US$3bil or RM12.55bil). — Bernama
