Meghan Markle's estranged father, Thomas Markle, has appeared in a new teaser trailer for the Australian breakfast show Sunrise, promising to give audiences a "world-exclusive interview". The former lighting director has spoken to the media a number of times about the difficult relationship he leads with his daughter and son-in-law, Prince Harry.

The sneak peek trailer shows a montage of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and promises to keep "nothing off-limits" in this explosive new interview.

Thomas Markle recently appeared on GB News from his home in Rosarito, Mexico, where he was interviewed by host Dan Wootton.

During the interview, he revealed that he had sent Meghan a bouquet of roses for her birthday, but had been ignored by the couple.

He took aim at the Sussexes, saying their attack on the Queen was "unforgivable" and that Meghan's lies "were so obvious, I don't know why she says them".

He also dismissed the idea of Meghan running for political office and said that since becoming a member of the Royal Family, Meghan was no longer "the daughter I knew".

Thomas Markle previously led a close relationship with his daughter, and in an old blog post from her website The Tig, she was seen praising her father's devotion and commitment towards her.

However, their relationship soured in the lead-up to her royal wedding in May 2018, after it emerged that Thomas Markle had liaised with the paparazzi for a series of staged photographs.

The 76-year-old had accepted payment for images of him preparing for a tuxedo-fitting and researching the history of Britain in an internet cafe.

In the days leading up to the royal wedding at St George's Chapel, it was announced that Thomas Markle would no longer be attending the service and was due to undergo heart surgery.

In his place, Prince Charles greeted Meghan in the chapel and walked her down the aisle to greet Prince Harry.

Since then, Thomas Markle has made numerous appeals to the media, where he has both pleaded for Meghan's forgiveness, and criticised her behaviour.

Following the couple's Megxit announcement, he accused the Sussexes of "destroying and cheapening" the royal institution, and said Meghan was "tossing away every young girl's dream of becoming a princess, for money".

He also sold extracts of a personal letter Meghan had written him to the Mail on Sunday, which sparked a lengthy legal battle between the Duchess and the media organisation.

In his most recent appearances with Fox News and GB News, the former lighting director has announced that he is taking legal action against the couple, in order to gain visitation rights to see his two grandchildren.

Thomas Markle has never met Prince Harry, and is yet to meet his grandchildren, Archie Harrison, and Lilibet Diana.

Meghan also leads a strained relationship with her half-siblings, Thomas Markle Jr and Samantha Markle. Her older half-brother is currently appearing on Celebrity Big Brother Australia, where he branded the Duchess "shallow", whilst her half-sister has also spoken out against her to the press.

Neither were invited to the royal wedding, and Samantha Markle has since published a book 'The Diary of Princess Pushy's Sister'.

Despite being estranged from her father's family, Meghan leads a close relationship with her mother Doria Ragland, who resides near the couple in California.
