PETALING JAYA: Malaysians who did not register with the Central Database Hub (Padu) before the deadline closed on March 31 will still be able to receive assistance if they are eligible, says Rafizi Ramli.

The Economy Ministry said the government will use existing administrative data, which is enough to determine the eligibility of individuals who missed the Padu registration dateline to update their profiles for subsidy retargeting purposes.

"If there is a need, the ministry will reopen Padu registration and updating temporarily," he said on Monday (April 1), adding that this would be after the government makes a decision on the targeted subsidy mechanism.

Rafizi also said the ministry would table the plan for retargeted subsidies to the Cabinet this month.

In a statement, it said that Perlis (66.9%), Kelantan (65.2%) and Terengganu (62.7%) have the highest percentage of 18-year-old and above Malaysians who have registered and updated their Padu profiles.
