SUNGAI BULOH: A teenage worker sustained second-degree burns in an explosion at a cafe in Saujana Utama here.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said the incident occurred at around 12.30pm on Tuesday (June 21).
"We received a distress call that an explosion had occurred at a cafe in Saujana Utama 3.
"We deployed a fire engine, two utility trucks and nine personnel to the scene," he said when contacted.
"Our team immediately began work to ventilate the premises when it arrived.
"An 18-year-old worker at the cafe suffered second-degree burns in the incident," he said.
In an unrelated incident, four students were rushed to hospital after inhaling gas fumes in a school laboratory.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department said the incident occurred at around 1.20pm at SK Sri Pintar at Persiaran Mulia, USJ15.
"We received a distress call and dispatched a fire engine and eight personnel to the scene.
"They arrived at the scene and found that gas had leaked out of a Bunsen burner.
"Four 11-year-olds felt nauseous and were rushed to the hospital," he said, adding that the situation was under control by the time the team arrived at the scene.
