KUWAIT CITY, April 18: The Ministry of Interior is closely following up the case of former Public Institution for Social Security (PIFSS) Chairman Fahd Al-Rajaan who was convicted of stealing public funds, says First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad in response to the query of MP Mehalhal Al- Mudaf.

Refuting the allegation on the ministry’s inaction regarding the case, Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad clarified that Al-Rajaan left Kuwait on Nov 14, 2014 – prior to the issuance of a decision imposing a travel ban on the latter. He confirmed that on Jan 21, 2015; the Arab Police and International Police (Interpol) received the request of the Public Prosecution to arrest Al-Rajaan because of his involvement in public funds embezzlement case number 159/2015. He said the Interpol then put Al-Rajaan on its list of wanted criminals, indicating that the prosecution is in charge of the extradition of Al-Rajaan through the International Association of Prosecutors as per decision number 51/2019.

Meanwhile, MP Hamdan Al-Azmi asked Minister of Education and Higher Education Ali Al-Mudhaf about the information he received that many applicants for supervisory posts in the Selection Section of the Human Resources Department at the Administrative Development Directorate were rejected even if they met the conditions.

The lawmaker requested for the list of senior officials in the section, copies of decisions on their appointment to the section, list of the members of the committee tasked to interview the applicants, criteria for the selection of committee members, copies of relevant job advertisements, and if Civil Service Commission resolution number 30/2015 was taken into consideration during the interview. On the other hand, the Health, Social and Labor Affairs Committee discussed Monday the bill on amending the second part of Article 14 of the Cooperative Societies Law and several other proposals.

In addition, MP Osama Al-Shaheen has submitted a proposal to establish a field hospital in Sabah Al-Ahmad Residential City to provide medical services to the residents until the completion of the medical facilities in the city. He pointed out the city has a population of more than 70,000 and these people need health care. Furthermore, National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al- Ghanim sent a cable of greetings to Zimbabwe’s Assembly Speaker Jacob Francis Mudenda and Senate President Mabel Chinomona on the occasion of their National Day.
