Too early to decide if use of Hawk 108 jets will be suspended, says Deputy Defense Minister

       PETALING JAYA: It is too early to decide if use of Hawk 108 jets will be suspended following the crash at the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) Base in Butterworth, Penang on Tuesday (Nov 16) night, says Datuk Seri Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz.

       The Deputy Defense Minister said this on Wednesday (Nov 17) and added that the RMAF has set up a committee to investigate the crash.

       He added that this investigation will cover various aspects, including operations and training.

       He told this to reporters after receiving a donation of 15,000 boxes of food from the non-governmental organisation Bantu-Bantu Malaysia at the Subang Air Base near here.

       In the crash that occurred at 10.07 pm on Tuesday, RMAF pilot, Kapt Mohamad Affendi Bustamy was killed while Mejar Mohd Fareez Omar was injured.

       Mejar Mohd Fareez is reported to be in stable condition at the Seberang Jaya Hospital.

       They were on a night training flight at the runway area of the ??Butterworth Air Base when the crash happened. - Bernama
