KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Pejuang Tanah Air is not supporting anyone in the Melaka election, let alone putting a proxy candidate, says party chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (pic).

       The former prime minister said he was aware of certain parties trying to link Pejuang and him with a certain individual, who was contesting as an independent.

       "As mentioned previously, the party has announced that we will not take part in the election.

       "I stress again that Pejuang and I are not supporting anyone (in the election), let alone putting up a proxy candidate.

       "I hope with this explanation, no one else will try to link me or Pejuang with any candidate," he said in a Facebook post on Thursday (Nov 11).

       On Oct 25, Dr Mahathir said that Pejuang would play no part in the Melaka election.

       "Pejuang will not be taking part in the Melaka election, because we feel these polls are just political games of certain people. These people are not serious about politics.

       "This is what is happening in Melaka and why we are staying away from the Melaka election," said Dr Mahathir.
