PETALING JAYA: Prof Dr Roziah Janor has been appointed as Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) acting vice-chancellor.
Her appointment marks the first time a woman is helming the vice-chancellor's seat in the varsity's history.
She was appointed by former higher education minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad on Aug 2, the UiTM Malaysia Alumni Association said in a statement on Thursday (Aug 12).
"We are confident that the UiTM vice-chancellor promotion interview special committee and the former higher education minister have assessed the criteria for UiTM's continuity of leadership and excellence because Prof Roziah is still serving the varsity.
"This allows UiTM to plan and execute a more effective strategy.
"We also believe that having Prof Roziah along with Tan Sri Ibrahim Shah Abu Shah as UiTM chairman will bring the varsity to a higher level," its secretary Shukri Ishak added.
