‘AZ opt-in crash due to tech, not traffic’

HEAVY user traffic was not the cause of the website crash during the second round of opt-ins for the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine registration on May 26, says Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba.

He said when registrations were publicly available from noon that day, technical issues had led to delays. The system had to process up to 7,000 registrations a second.

“This explains why many had difficulties in securing an appointment,” he said in a written reply to Fahmi Fadzil (PH-Lembah Pantai) in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday.

Dr Adham said the Task Force had contacted those who failed to register on May 26 to set a new appointment date.

As of yesterday, a total of 22,143,545 persons or 94.6% of the adult population in the country had been fully vaccinated.
