KUALA TERENGGANU: The Covid-19 pandemic is seeing more caring Malaysians coming forward to help those in need with whatever skills they possess.
One such person is freelance videographer Mohd Fais Hafiz Mohd Ismail, 27, who is offering free photography and videography services to traders and small entrepreneurs who have lost their livelihoods due to the pandemic.
“I see that the community has really been affected. More people are losing their jobs or taking pay cuts.“Many have turned to selling home-cooked food (to earn a living), but they don’t have attractive photographs or videos of their products to attract customers.
“I thought I could use my expertise to help boost their sales by producing photographs and videos for them,” he said yesterday.
Mohd Fais Hafiz, who previously produced corporate, music and product videos, is assisted by three friends: Mohamad Fazrul Azril Abdul Muhayidi, 28; Muhamad Arif Asyraf Mohd Naim, 26; and Khairul Na’im Zaiki, 34.
Although he only announced the offer of free photographs and video shoots on his social media a week ago, the response has been encouraging, including from small traders and entrepreneurs from as far away as Perak and Kuala Lumpur.
He said over 40 individuals had contacted him for his complimentary service, but he could only choose 13 to maintain quality control.
“Due to time constraints, I don’t want to take on too many products at once, which may affect quality. I only take photographs and videos of two or three products a day because I need time to edit them for good results.
“I only choose new and unfamiliar products.
“I also choose products from sellers who are really affected by the pandemic and cannot afford to produce quality photographs or videos of their products,” he said, adding that most of the products he received were food items.
Mohd Faiz Hafiz also said the traders and entrepreneurs involved could opt to have 10 photographs or a 30-second video that could be used to promote their product.
“After that, they are free to use the photographs or videos for promotional purposes anytime and anywhere,” he added. — Bernama
