MELAKA: A former Melaka executive councillor is being investigated by police over a fight at Batu Berendam here on Monday (April 25).
Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Christopher Patit said the probe was continuing although both parties involved withdrew their police reports the following day.
“The investigation paper will be submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for evaluation,” he said here on Wednesday (April 27).
ACP Christopher said based on the police report, the former exco member and assemblyman, in his late 50s, sustained minor injuries to his hands.
He said the man got into a heated argument with a scrap collector before they came to blows.
ACP Christopher said the former exco member accused the scrap collector of theft at Taman Tamby Chik Karim here at 9.30am on Monday.
He said the scrap collector claimed he was hit with a blunt object while the former exco member alleged he was assaulted with a crash helmet during the altercation.
ACP Christopher added that the scrap collector, who is in his 40s, said in his report that he sustained minor head injuries.
