MELAKA: The Melaka government will cooperate with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on an alleged mismanagement of coastal reclamation projects.

Caretaker Melaka chief minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali said he will ensure all documents and materials needed by MACC are provided in the process of the probe.

“We are willing to provide any evidence to the MACC,” he said after handing over the keys of a house donated to three orphan siblings at Tangga Batu here yesterday.

The allegation of marine sand royalty misappropriation and project monopoly in Melaka was made by Sungai Udang assemblyman Datuk Seri Idris Haron on Wednesday.

Idris also claimed that the issue was among the factors behind his withdrawal of support for the Perikatan Nasional/Umno-led state government.

Idris, who is the former chief minister, is among four lawmakers who left the Perikatan/Umno-led Melaka government on Monday. The others are Pantai Kundor assemblyman Datuk Nor Azman Hassan, who left Umno, Telok Mas representative Datuk Noor Effandi Ahmad, who has since been terminated from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, and independent lawmaker Datuk Norhizam Hassan Baktee.

On Friday, Melaka MACC chief Mohd Shahril Che Saad confirmed that anti-graft officers had collected documents from Idris on his allegation over the misappropriation.
