MELAKA: Melaka will enforce the ruling on banning children from Ramadan and Hari Raya bazaars as a measure to prevent infection.
This is in line with the Health Ministry’s advice that crowded places were unsuitable for children, especially those who had not been vaccinated, said Melaka housing, local government and environment committee chairman Datuk Zaidi Attan.
He said he would meet the 62 organisers of the Ramadan and Hari Raya bazaars to ensure they comply with the stipulated standard operating procedure (SOP).
In another development, Zaidi said efforts were underway to get more young people into business.
“Maybe we can have the asnaf (those eligible to receive tithe) and give them the opportunity to do business during Ramadan, or set up a permanent hawker centre, like the one at Leypark Station, because there are many successful asnaf entrepreneurs who want to contribute,” he said. — Bernama
