MELAKA: Melaka DAP has appointed Kota Melaka MP Khoo Poay Tiong as the party's election director for the state polls.
Melaka DAP chairman Datuk Tey Kok Kiew said Khoo was an experienced politician and had been the assemblyman for the Ayer Keroh constituency for two-terms.
"We will move all as one big family during the campaigning period," he said at a press conference at the DAP headquarters here on Saturday (Oct 23).
Meanwhile, Khoo said he hoped that Melakans working in Singapore would register as postal voters before Nov 1.
He said an estimated 10% of young voters from the state worked in Singapore.
"Our focal point is on local voters in Singapore as they make the majority of postal voters," he said.
Khoo said DAP was also hoping voters from Kalimantan, Indonesia, southern Thailand and Brunei would also take the opportunity to register for ballot posting.
The Election Commission had set Nov 8 as nomination day and Nov 20 as polling day.
