PETALING JAYA: Police have dismantled a marijuana distributing syndicate, arresting four suspects in the process.

       Selangor Narcotic Crime Investigation Department chief Asst Comm Ahmad Jefferi Abdullah, in a statement on Thursday (Jan 27), said the raids were conducted on Jan 22 during narcotic operations in the state.

       "The first raid at 6pm was conducted in Shah Alam, where three men were arrested at a house there. Five compressed packets of marijuana were seized, weighing around 5.1kg.

       "A follow-up raid was conducted at a car park in Banting, where another man was arrested and another 5.1kg of marijuana was seized.

       “That led to a third raid in Telok Panglima Garang in Banting, where 41 compressed packets of marijuana, around 41.82kg, were confiscated at a house there," he said.

       All suspects, aged between 23 and 43, tested positive for THC. One had a prior drug related offence.

       "The total worth of the drugs seized is estimated to be around RM130,050. The police have also seized assets belonging to the group, including a terrace house and two cars.

       "All suspects have been remanded until Jan 29," he said.
