SHAH ALAM: Perikatan Nasional's Selat Klang assemblyman Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari has declared support for the leadership of Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

       The former Selangor Bersatu chairman said he made the decision after considering Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah's speech, who praised the state government's administration for being on the right track for the progress and well-being of the people.

       He said he also took into consideration several of Perikatan's actions, especially Selangor Perikatan, which he saw as silent against criticism directed at the Malay rulers, which he deemed contrary to the principles of Malay Muslims.

       "I also made this decision to ensure the wellbeing of the people of Selangor, especially the residents of the N44 Selat Klang constituency, who will benefit from a stable and united government," he said in a statement here on Wednesday (March 6).

       However, he said he remained committed as a member of Bersatu.

       Meanwhile, Selangor State Assembly Speaker Lau Weng San, told reporters at the lobby of the Selangor State Assembly Building that he had not yet received any notification about Abdul Rashid's move as of 1.50pm.

       "As for his seat position in the State Assembly, I will discuss it further before making any decision," he said. – Bernama
