KLANG: The Covid-19 vaccine supply that Selangor has is still fewer than the number of doses the state is able to administer in a day.
State Public Health Committee chairman Dr Siti Mariah (pic) said with 73 vaccination centres (PPVs) statewide, Selangor had the capacity to vaccinate 87,616 people daily.
“But with the supply now, the rate of daily vaccinations can be administered to 53,037 people only.
“The problem faced by Selangor currently is shortage of vaccine and not lack of capacity (to vaccinate) or the number of PPVs,’’ Dr Siti Mariah said in a statement on Monday (June 28).
Dr Siti Mariah’s statement follows National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme coordinating minister Khairy Jamaluddin’s revelation earlier in the day that Selangor had sufficient vaccines and there were 322,606 doses in the state, which had yet to be used.
Dr Siti Mariah added that according to records, the Selangor Health Department received 1,189,350 doses of the vaccine up to Sunday (June 27).
“The amount that was distributed is 954,051 doses.
“Given this, the balance doses in storage is about 20% which is 235,277 doses.
“This supply is expected to last for only two days in the event vaccination is carried out with the PPVs in full capacity,’’ she added.
Dr Siti Mariah also said it was understood the state health department will receive about 60,000 doses more from the Federal Government.
