SHAH ALAM: Nine Selangor policemen have succumbed to Covid-19 since March last year.

State police chief Comm Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed said they comprised eight rank-and-file personnel members and one officer.

"Three family members of the police personnel in Selangor also passed away due to the virus.

"Since March last year, 910 personnel members and their family members tested positive while 4,332 had to undergo quarantine," he told reporters at Selangor police headquarters on Monday (Aug 16).

He said as of Sunday (Aug 15), 331 personnel members were currently under quarantine after testing positive for the virus.

"A total of 312 others were also ordered to undergo quarantine as close-contact cases.

"Up to Sunday, we issued a total of 2,063 compound notices for various standard operating procedure (SOP) violations," he said.

He added that the top three offences committed were inter-district/interstate travel without permission, failure to register before entering a premises, and not observing physical distancing.

Comm Arjunaidi advised the public to comply with the SOP in order to flatten the curve of Covid-19 infections.

"Compliance task force personnel are out on patrol daily and will not hesitate to take action against anyone caught violating SOP," he said.
