ACTOR Datuk Adi Putra had come to the morning market in Kampung Lundang Paku, Kubang Kerian, Kelantan not to shop, but to sell cheap vegetables and fish to its residents, reported Kosmo!.
Almost 1,500 residents swarmed the market on Saturday to meet the actor and buy fish for RM10 per 2kg, as well as various types of vegetables.
Adi Putra, whose real name is Mohamed Hadi Putera Halim, 40, said his presence at the morning market was as a form of charity work and moral support to ease the burden of the villagers.
“Everything was sold out within 20 minutes,” he said, adding that a similar programme as that organised by Puteri Umno Kubang Kerian would be held in other states.
The Singaporean actor best known for his role in Akukah Tanggang? and Suria di Cordoba said he had been performing charity on top of his busy schedule.
> The daily also reported that the marine police on Saturday pitched in to help clean Masjid Al-Falah in Section 24, Taman Sri Muda, Shah Alam as well as the nearby Tahfizul Quran madrasah, both of which were affected by the floods that inundated parts of the country two weekends ago.
Bukit Aman Marine Police commander Senior Asst Comm Rosman Ismail said 26 officers and personnel from Port Klang were involved in extending a hand to the flood victims.
“We wanted to help clean and repair the two buildings so that the mosque committee members could focus on cleaning their own houses,” he said.
