PETALING JAYA: Khairy Jamaluddin is urging the people in Kelantan to get their Covid-19 vaccine booster dose, tweeting in the dialect unique to the state.
The Health Minister also said Kelantan had the lowest take-up rate for booster shots and that usage of intensive care units (ICU) is high.
"Loloni Kelate paling rendah skali ambik booster, ambo rusing, ICU sana koho penuh. Ambo mitok sangat puok kita di Kelate pakat cocok vaksin & booster (Right now, Kelantan has the lowest rate of booster doses. I am worried as ICUs there are filling up. I urge the people of Kelantan to take the vaccine as well as a booster shot).
"Pakat gi cocok deh (Everyone, let's go and get jabbed)," he tweeted on Monday (Feb 28).
His post was accompanied by a chart showing booster dose coverage nationwide as of Feb 27.
Only 22.3% of the people in Kelantan have received their booster dose and the ICU usage is at 71.5%.
On Feb 24, Khairy said the deadline for senior citizens and Sinovac vaccine adult recipients to receive their booster shots had been extended to March 31.
"Beginning April 1, their vaccination status will be changed to 'incomplete' if they have not received a booster dose.
"So those with elderly family members, please persuade them to get their booster dose," he added.
